History

Stud "Stoeterij Koningsland" was established in 1974 by Theo Jansen who bred and worked with Frisian horses as a hobby. The "model" mare AFKE was the first Frisian horse to be purchased, two more "star" mares followed.

The stud was run in a serious way and results followed soon. The main breeding achievement was the approval of the stallion Phryske van Koningsland, now named OLOF (315). OLOF may be considered as the best stallion in the Studbook to pass on movement. This is proved for instance by his son JASPER, also an approved stallion.
In 1992, son Marc, after an appropriate training, continued Stoeterij Koningsland in a professional way. His enthusiasm for and knowledge of the Friesian horse are a guarantee for the future. Stoeterij Koningsland restricts itself exclusively to the Frisian horse. The stud complies with al rules and regulations of Dutch law.
